We are incredibly passionate about whisky, so we decided to make one.
We wanted to create one of the world’s best whiskies. A whisky to better reflect modern-day Australia and our values. We wanted a whisky that could be shared amongst friends rather than sit idly in a whisky cabinet. A premium whisky to trade-up dark spirit consumers with a new and exciting offering.
We wanted to tell a story. Most importantly, we wanted to have fun. The result after all these years is Buckley’s Rye Whisky.
Aged in charred new American oak barrels, Buckley's is an incredibly smooth rye whisky with rich vanilla and caramel notes that perfectly complement the subtle spiciness of the dry rye. Buckley’s is a full-bodied ‘straight’ rye whisky that is made with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley.
This whisky is best enjoyed neat, in an Old Fashioned or a Buckley’s Rye & Dry to accompany any occasion.
Buckley’s Rye Whisky brings to life the incredible true story of William Buckley. This is one of the greatest Australian stories never told.
William Buckley was a convict with a disdain for authority. Refusing to surrender his freedom, in 1803 he absconded from the doomed Port Phillip settlement into unforgiving bushland. His chances of survival? Buckley’s.
Exhausted and starving after weeks of wandering, he happened upon a spear marking a grave. In a fortuitous twist, the Wathaurong believed Buckley to be the reincarnation of the spear’s owner – the great warrior Murrangurk. The Wathaurong adopted Buckley as one of their own and after many years he became a well-respected wise man.
Defying all odds, Buckley remerged 32 years later - bold, daring and full of character - just like the rye whisky that bears his name.
Buckley's Rye Whisky Neat
60mL of Buckley's Rye Whisky
Serve Neat or on the rocks.
Enjoy this incredibly smooth whisky in its purest form.
60ml of Buckley's Rye Whisky
1 Sugar cube
(Or bar spoon of simple syrup)
2 Dashes of aromatic bitters
(Or orange bitters)
Place sugar in an old fashioned glass, add bitters and crush with a muddler.
Add a large cube of ice, pour in Buckley’s Rye Whisky, stir and garnish with an orange twist.
60mL of Buckley's Rye Whisky
20mL Sweet Vermouth
2 Dashes of Aromatic Bitters
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all the ingredients.
Stir thoroughly and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with an orange twist or maraschino cherry.
60mL Buckley's Rye Whisky
1 Sugar Cube
(or bar spoon of simple syrup)
2 Dashes peychaud's bitters
1 Dash of aromatic bitters
Rinse a chilled old fashioned glass with absinthe.
In a mixing glass add the sugar and bitters and crush with a muddler.
Fill with ice and add the Buckley’s Rye Whisky. Stir thoroughly and strain into the prepared glass.
Garnish with a lemon twist.

30ml Buckley's Rye Whisky
Serve in highball glass with ice and a squeeze of fresh lime.
Buckley's & Soda
30mL Buckley's Rye Whisky
Serve in highball glass with ice and a twist of pink grapefruit.
